How it works

From an empty account to an approved filing pack, and what stays your job.

The steps

  1. Make an account

Enter your email address and the six-digit code that is sent to it. There is no password.

  2. Add the company

Enter the company number and the software reads the company's details from the Companies House register. Then add its bank accounts and its properties.

  3. Upload statements

Upload each bank account's statements. Each upload is checked, and you can see what was found before it is imported.

  4. Review what it suggests

Go through the review queue. Accept or change a suggestion, and write a rule where the same payment keeps coming.

  5. Check the reports

Read the trial balance, the profit and loss account, the balance sheet and each property's result. Fix anything that looks wrong with a correcting entry.

  6. Answer what only you can

Confirm the facts the books cannot show, such as whether the company is a close company, and what was already paid.

  7. Build and approve the pack

The software builds the accounts, the CT600 values and the workings. When you are happy, an owner approves the pack, and its files are locked.

  8. File it and record it

File on the official services yourself, or hand the bundle to your accountant. Then record that it was filed.

What stays your job

  • Deciding whether a suggestion is right. The software proposes; you decide.
  • Confirming the company's circumstances, such as whether it qualifies for micro-entity accounts.
  • Checking the figures, or having your accountant check them, before anything is filed.
  • Filing on the official services, and paying the tax on time.

The FAQ answers the questions people ask first, and the filing by hand page explains the last two steps.
